Many in the industry will regard this year as having been extremely difficult. Ripening of vineyards started slowly, and then the sun came out in force…then wildfires ripped across many of California’s famed AVAs.
Roads in and out of the picturesque valley east of Napa were closed to all but residents and emergency services. Though the vineyard was untouched by fire and the smoke stayed at bay, the sun had its way with the grapes and they over-ripened rendering them unusable in what was slated to be a late, but momentous harvest.
We took this season to help others and give thanks.
